The Collaborative Research Center SFB 562, an interdisciplinary research group, has been established by the German Research Foundation (DFG) in order to develop fundamental concepts and solutions for the design of parallel robots. The goal is to tap the promising potential of such robots, particularly with regard to high operating speeds, accelerations and accuracy. For the third time the colloquium “Robotic Systems for Handling and Assembly” organized by the SFB 562 brings together experts in the field of parallel robots from industry and academia. Besides a presentation of the latest research progress obtained by the team of the SFB 562, well-known international experts in the field of parallel structures present invited lectures. This publication collects the presentations given during the colloquium and offers an overview over present research results as well as future trends in parallel robotics.
